"The Twelve Chairs" is a novel by Ilya Ilf and Yevgeny Petrov, published in 1928. Civil servant Ippolit Matveyevich Vorobyaninov learns that jewelry is kept in one of the chairs in his family's living room. It remains only to find all the chairs, for which Vorobyaninov goes to his hometown. On the way, he comes across the adventurer Ostap Bender, with whom Vorobyaninov will have to travel the whole country in search of a treasure.
