He was particularly fascinated by the possibility of traveling great distances to satisfy his curious spirit and to claim himself as a citizen of a world without borders. But on his way to Constantinople there was another incentive that made the adventure more attractive: it was one of the first trips he was going to undertake with Elena Ortúzar, who would eventually become his second wife.
